We have a mixed bag of emotions for you in this edition of Weekly Catch. From engagement news from two models to the passing of the one-and-only David Bowie, we have what you need to know in model, fashion and culture news for this week.
Models
Jerry Hall
The American-born model has become engaged to media billionaire, Rupert Murdoch.
Rosie Huntington-Whitely
The second engagement announcement goes to Rosie, who is engaged to Jason Statham. And, let’s get straight to the ring. The main stone is a five-carat round, early 20th century flawless diamond from jeweler Neil Lane’s archival collection, according to PEOPLE.
“It’s classic and elegant and the stone is perfection. Jason wanted something perfect and flawless and he kept coming back to this one. He knew it was right,” Mr. Lane shared with PEOPLE. “Jason was truly excited when he found the right ring for Rosie and he was so delightful to work with.”
Mr. Lane added about the couple, “You can see the joy and happiness when they’re together.”
Hilary Rhoda
On the other spectrum, Hilary has sued her mom/former manager for allegedly stealing six figures from her, according to Page Six. In a countersuit, Hilary’s mom called out her daughter’s new husband, Sean Avery, by saying his work after leaving the NHL was “sporadic” and “prospects for employment were highly speculative.”
Karlie Kloss
The former Victoria’s Secret model has been taped by LVMH to join its panel of experts that pre-select the 10 finalists for the company’s 2016 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers, according to British Vogue.
Fashion
Zoolander No.2
A new perfume has been unveiled, Zoolander No.2. The ad campaign features models Derek Zoolander and Hansel. It’s going to be hard to say no to this one!
Culture
Castle Galleries – London
British artist Simon Claridge has partnered with Playboy to launch a new collection that pays homage to some of the magazine’s most iconic cover images. Six images, dating from 1967-1982, are in the collection and each cover has then been transformed into a series of limited edition silkscreen prints – hand signed by Simon – and embellished with his signature “diamond dust” finish.
The collection launched at a VIP preview event at The Playboy Club in Mayfair on Thursday and is now at Castle Galleries in London.
David Bowie
The chameleon that was David Bowie passed away on Sunday, after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was married to model Iman.
And, we’ll close out this edition of Weekly Catch with Bowie’s “Blackstar.”
Until next time…
