We all know that when swimsuits first cropped up, they caused quite a stir, and we are talking about swimsuits- we haven’t gotten to the bikini yet.
Hence, when we saw this “1898 Swimsuits” video, we couldn’t help but reminisce about what those early swimwear days must have been like.
“Filmed in Lulworth Cove and Brighton, this footage was shot in 1898. Some girls are showing quite a lot of flesh for the time much to the disapproval of Brighton Council,” the Vintage Fashions caption read.
We admit, we do wonder how serious the Brighton Council was in regards to “taking steps to put an end to this wanton display of bare flesh.” Really, who doesn’t love a good swimsuit? Even these are fun.
