Phemke, the Dubai-based resort wear brand, has continued to grow and grow. We checked in with its founder, Femke Speelman, to get the inside scoop.
MalenDyer: In addition to expanding your product offering since we last spoke, including some jewelry from Ways of Change, what else have you and your brand been up to?
Femke Speelman: We are extremely proud of our collaboration with the Coco Collection in the Maldives. This amazing boutique property invited us to run a two week pop-up shop in one of their properties, the Coco Bodu Hithi. It was well-received. So well that we are proposing the pop-up shop concept to more exclusive properties throughout the region.
FS: This year, Coco and Phemke will extend their collaboration in an amazing way, follow us on Instagram @phemkeresortwear to find out more! We’re also proud to supply our collection to a few new and exclusive resorts, such as the One & Only Reethi Rah Resort in the Maldives and our pop-up shop in the Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara, Oman.
FS: We now have an impressive list of stockists in the Middle East, Seychelles and the Maldives, and our ambition is to grow in other continents as well, such as Europe and the Americas.
MD: With a non-stop business and travel at every turn, what is your must-have item from your collection?
FS: That would have to be our jute beach bags. They are not only stylish and beautiful, but they are also big, practical and sturdy. The best thing about them is the fact they are all handmade by divorced and widowed women in Bangladesh who have learned this trade to become financially independent.
FS: The jute beach bag with our ever-so-popular wide brim straw hat makes the must-have outfit for the beach, pool or holiday.
