We first stumbled upon La Roche-Posay during a trip to France, which was long before the brand was popping up in American drugstores and dermatologist offices.
What we loved about this skincare brand from the start was that it seemed untainted by global domination and most importantly – it worked.
Although we have tried many of their products, the category we are focusing this Otter Obsession on is the brand’s sun care.
They leverage Anthelios, which often indicates a mix of La Roche-Posay’s patented photostable sun filtering agents Mexoryl SX and Mexoryl XL, and what we feel is key to look for on the packaging.
Otter Note: One of the brand’s newest ingredients is Mexoplex – think of it as the next generation of sun filtering agents.
Otter Note: We say ‘often’ because depending on which country you are in, there are often slightly different ingredients due to local regulations.
What makes La Roche-Posay’s mixture of Mexoryl so special is that it works to protect your skin from sun damage but also to not breakdown as quickly as many sunscreens on the market.
We could go on and on about why we love this brand’s sun care so much, but instead, we encourage you to check out the La Roche-Posay website.
You will see they not only sell sun care, but work to be experts within the field with continual research and working to push their innovative approach to sun care.
