On Monday, the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s Costume Institute held its annual Met Gala. For this year’s theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”, we’ll be the first to admit we were a bit skeptical, especially as it related to the Gala. How was religion going to be tied into fashion?
Well, we were pleasantly surprised and even rounded up our favorite looks from the Met Gala 2018.
Taylor Hill was wearing DVF, designed by the brand’s creative director Nathan Jenden. Here’s what the brand shared about Taylor’s look.
“Taylor Hill wears ‘Cardinal Sin’ for Met Gala 2018. Nathan Jenden created for Taylor a custom, couture, cardinal-inspired wrap dress. Crafted in black heavy crepe with red silk taffeta piping, covered buttons and a red belt.”
Ralph Lauren was a fixture at the gala. We were surprised to see so many attendees show up in Ralph Lauren, although, we really liked to see how Lauren interpreted the theme. Simply put, if you were in Ralph Lauren, you were on point.

Case in point is Priyanka Chopra in a Ralph Lauren Collection velvet evening gown with a gold-embroidered hood.
Then, there’s Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who wore a caped Ralph Lauren Collection gown with lace and Swarovski crystals.
A double dose of Ralph is even better! Rosie is joined here by Lily Aldridge…
Lily’s custom Ralph Lauren Collection gown was rounded out with Bulgari jewelry and Jimmy Choo shoes. Her styling was by Elizabeth Saltzman, hair by Bryce Scarlett and makeup by Quinn Murphy.

Jennifer Lopez wore a custom Balmain gown with Tiffany & Co. earrings. The fashion brand shared this about her dress.
“The (RED) carpet custom designs are being auctioned off on Ifonly.com/RED to support RED’s fight to #endAIDS.”
Why hello, Irina Shayk! Another fashion staple this Met Gala was Versace. Here’s a full description of her look from the Italian fashion house.
“Golden goddess Irina Shayk at the Met Gala in a custom-made, Atelier Versace silk dress with fully encrusted golden stones, Swarovski crystals and metallic studs. The dress features a bold maxi train and full ruffled skirt, worn with a Versace choker and bracelet accessories.”
Naomi Watts wore Michael Kors – and walked with Mr. Kors himself – with Cartier jewelry.
Stella Maxwell and Jeremy Scott for Moschino – what a great match!
Rounding out our favorite Met Gala 2018 looks is Yara Shahidi in a Chanel gown and jewelry. Her styling was by Jason Bolden, makeup by Emily Cheng, hair by Nai’vasha Johnson and nails by Emi Kudo,
Now, we are off to see the Met’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” exhibit, which runs through 8 October 2018.
