When we began MalenDyer, our focus was always to bring our readers more than “just” swimwear. Instead, we wanted to ensure you were covered from the beach to lunch to wherever your evening takes you – all the while exuding that beach living vibe.
With that said, here are our picks from NYFW spring/summer 2017.
Con Ilio
Showcased at Australia’s Fashion Palette. Here are a few designs from this Melbourne-based brand that caught our eye…
Cynthia Rowley
Was all about the feathers (not to worry, not on the clothes) for when she showcased her ss17 collection at Cynthia Rowley Studios on Thursday, September 8. The retro vibe, the nod to the ’60s/’70s, we are liking it…
Cushnie et Ochs
Is a New York City-based brand that just came across our radar this fashion week. You can imagine you will be hearing more of them from us! Until then, say ‘hi’ to Emily Ratajkowski and Jamie Chung who offer a flavor of the brand’s designs…
Custo Barcelona
And one of the brand’s we interviewed early on (Interview with Fashion Designer Custo Dalmau of Custo Barcelona), showcased their ss17 collection, “Way More,” on Sunday, September 11 at Pier 59 Studios…
Ete Swimwear
Made their NYFW debut at Australia’s Fashion Palette, and we got to meet the founder and designer, Jess Williamson. Stay tuned for more on this brand!
Mara Hoffman
Chose not to show at this season’s NYFW. The designer took to social media to share her thoughts.
“First season in many years that I decided not to do a show for NY fashion week. To be honest, it’s an enormous relief and feels incredibly freeing! In place of a show, we’ve been very hard at work on a project that is extremely close to my heart. It’s coming soon, and I can’t wait. In the meantime, a little dancing stripe linen love from yesterday’s look book shoot with [Brooklyn-based photographer] Amber Byrne Mahoney.”
As we are fans of Mara’s designs, we had to give her a shout out, and we cannot wait to see the full ss17 collection.
Marissa Webb
Unveiled her spring/summer 2017 collection at Skylight Clarkson Square on Thursday, September 8. We are happy to see joggers are still trending!
Tommy Hilfiger
Held his ss17 show on Friday, September 9 at Pier 16 South Street Seaport. The brand enlisted models Gigi Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Josephine Skriver and more. And, the audience included Taylor Swift, among others…
Zimmermann
Held their fashion show, “Stranded,” on Friday, September 9 at Metropolitan West…
As for ss17 trends, we can’t get over the velvet we saw! And, we are actually excited about it. How will we incorporate that into beach living? Stay tuned!
