Jackie Prazmowski hails from Canada and can now often be found on the beaches of Australia. We got to chat with her to learn more about her, including her move from Canada to Australia, what we find in her beach bag and what’s next for her and her blog – Jackieepee, whose catchphrase is “Dream, Then Do” and a motto she seems to live by.
MalenDyer: Moving from Toronto to Australia is quite a change, what was it about Australia that made you want to stay?
Jackie Prazmowski: It was a change indeed! Originally I moved to Australia to finish my university degree, and my plan was always to return back to Canada after graduating. However, after finishing uni and going back to Canada in the middle of winter, I quickly changed my mind and hopped on another flight back to Australia. I just couldn’t bare the cold weather. I think that’s one of the biggest reasons why I love Australia so much, as winter here only lasts about three months, and it’s nowhere near as cold as it gets back in Toronto.
MD: Describe your “perfect” Australian day.
JP: Going out to a local café for some brekkie and hitting the beach with some friends. I swear I could be out in the sun all day. I was probably a reptile in my past life [she says with a smile].

MD: Where is your favorite beach (and it doesn’t have to be in Australia)?
JP: That’s a tough one…I honestly love them all! One that stands out to me would have to be Maya Bay [on the Ko Phi Phi Le island off of Thailand]. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen before.
MD: What would we find in your beach bag?
JP: Sunscreen – my mom was always nagging me to wear sunscreen when I was younger, and of course, I never used to listen. As I got older, I understand how damaging the sun can be to your skin, so it’s become an essential part of my beach bag!
JP: Beach Towel – I’m a huge fan of Turkish towels, as they are so durable and don’t take up a lot of space in your bag. Mine even has a secret pocket, so I can hide my phone in it when I go for a swim.
JP: Water – I don’t think I leave anywhere without my bottle of water.
JP: Speaker – music makes everything better!
JP: Hair Comb – the worst feeling is getting out of the water with knotted wet hair.
MD: You’ve mentioned your favorite place to visit is Mexico. Is this still your favorite place?
JP: I had such a lovely time in Mexico. There are so many things to do whether you’re a beach lover, an adrenaline junkie or just like adventure – there’s truly something for everyone. I stayed in Yucatan, close to Cancun. I think the reason this trip stood out to me was because I had good company and the weather was perfect the entire time. Also, I’m a huge fan of Mexican food and mojitos!
MD: When preparing to travel to a new destination, what do you look for?
JP: It really depends on where I’m going and the mood I’m in. Most times I want to get away to relax but there are other trips I’ve taken, for example New Zealand, where the focus is purely on adventure. Of course I think everyone would prefer a fancy all-inclusive resort, but on the other hand, it goes back to what kind of trip you’re after. The next trip I’m planning is to Bali, for a mix of relaxation and adventure. I haven’t sorted out my accommodation as of yet, but I’m hoping to stay at a hotel villa.

MD: How would you describe your personal style?
JP: Comfortable and casual. I’m also a huge fan of neutral colors.
MD: How has your style evolved from your time living in Canada to now?
JP: It has definitely matured. And, I have fewer layers to put on!
MD: What fashion brand(s) are you loving right now?
JP: Zara, Atoms&Here, Seed Heritage, Lulu & Rose.
MD: With a full-time job and a blog, share with us how you like to spend your downtime?
JP: If I’m not working, I love catching up with friends and visiting places I haven’t been to before. I also just bought some camping gear, so I will absolutely be giving that a go.
MD: Have you started thinking about New Year’s Resolutions? If so, please share!
JP: I haven’t given it a single thought until now. I can’t believe it’s that time of year again! Last year, my resolution was to exercise at least a couple of days a week. This year, I’m probably going to continue with the exercise but maybe kick it up a notch and eat a lot cleaner. I also want to travel a lot more, so we’ll see about that one.
